Join the Matrix home server with Element.

This guide walks you through your invite code, Authentik account sign-in, and Element setup on Windows, Android, iPhone/iPad, or the web.

Use your invite code

Keep your invite code handy. You will use it while creating or activating your account. If you do not have a code, ask the person who invited you.

Create or sign into Authentik

Open the account portal, follow the invite/account flow, then return here to finish setting up Element.

Windows setup

  1. Download and install Element Desktop for Windows.
  2. Open Element and choose Sign in.
  3. When asked for a homeserver, choose Other or Change, then enter chat.wheelermediahub.com.
  4. Continue with SSO/Auth when prompted and sign in with your Authentik account.
  5. Start a direct chat with the person who gave you the invite code.

  1. Install Element from Google Play or F-Droid.
  2. Open Element and tap Sign in.
  3. Select a custom/other homeserver and enter chat.wheelermediahub.com.
  4. Use SSO/Auth to sign in with your Authentik account.
  5. Allow notifications if you want message alerts, then start a direct chat with your inviter.

  1. Install Element from the App Store.
  2. Open Element and tap Sign in.
  3. Choose a custom/other homeserver and enter chat.wheelermediahub.com.
  4. Use SSO/Auth to sign in with your Authentik account.
  5. Enable notifications if you want alerts, then start a direct chat with your inviter.

  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Confirm or enter homeserver chat.wheelermediahub.com.
  4. Continue with SSO/Auth and sign in with your Authentik account.
  5. Start a direct chat with the person who gave you the invite code.

Troubleshooting

If something does not work

I do not see the SSO/Auth button

Double-check the homeserver is exactly chat.wheelermediahub.com. If Element is using matrix.org or another server, change the homeserver and try again.

My invite code does not work

Ask the person who invited you to confirm the code is still active and typed exactly as provided.

Element says the homeserver is unknown

Check for typos and try the web clients: chat.skengerz.com or element.wheelermediahub.com.

I am stuck verifying a session

You can skip verification temporarily to send messages, then verify later from Element settings. Keep recovery keys/passphrases somewhere safe.
